Feb 3 & 4 - Handstand workshop with Kim Ilott

Sunday, February 4 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM

Registration only $25, register HERE.

Ever wanted to know the secret to perfect handstands? Have you always wanted to try but been afraid to attempt them? This open level workshop is for you!!

This workshop will explore the puzzle pieces that help you find, or level up, your handstands. Learn how to train your hand balancing technique, endurance, and alignment with conditioning exercises on the floor, against the wall, through the space, and in the centre of the room. The main focus will be circus technique, which encourages anatomical stacking and control for efficient, consistent, strong handstands, but creative shapes and transitions inspired by yoga arm balancing asana will also be touched on. To finish, a therapeutic yoga cool down will teach you self-care practices to keep your body healthy and balanced as you take your new-found skills forward.

About the Instructor:

Kimberley Ilott’s life balances with one foot in the dance world, the other in yoga, and both hands in circus. She has roots in funk and hip hop, a base of serious, academic contemporary and jazz, and has now blossomed into a free-flying aerial and pole artist. Her choreographic, performance, and yoga practice is dubbed Soul Satisfaction, because it seeks the deep and authentic reflection, expression, connection, and fulfillment that make art and life worthwhile.

Kim is certified as a handstand trainer through Deflying Fitness of Toronto. She also has completed a BA in Dance (Choreography & Performance Concentration) from U of C, the Professional Training Program at Decidedly Jazz, multiple yoga teacher trainings (200 hour Sattva YTT, 60 hour Air Yogalates Aerial Yoga YTT, 100+ hour Adjuster’s Training at Bodhi Tree Yoga Centre), and has studied in her fields with experts from around the world. She draws from this vast and varied experience in movement while teaching, and enjoys applying knowledge from her current Thai Yoga Therapy Training with Mandorla Yoga Institute (which includes yoga therapy, Ayurveda, Thai massage, and Marma therapy) to awaken awareness, and repattern bodies and minds for optimal efficiency and living.
