This year the as part of the 2012 Fluid Festival, our very own Tara Wilson put together an Urban Culture Cabaret at the Auburn Saloon. The cabaret complimented Crazy Smooth’s Bboyizm production ‘IZM’ which featured ten of Canada’s top street dancers in an exploration of expressing ourselves through dance. It was an evening that introduced audiences to a showcase of home grown Hip Hop artists.
Krizia “ Canvas “ Carlos set things off with a house inspired solo followed by Mc’s Rebecca Dawn and Jaynova, who not only hosted the party, they sang some of their own tracks, showed the audience how to freestyle on the mic, and collaborated with the amazingly funky band Freak Motif, who held it down all night keeping the dance floor packed!

Rapper and Singer Sinzere for the New Year graced the stage with 4 tracks each night, Legacy One came with DJ Reflect, spoken word artist Reason, and dancers Chantel Denie and Caralee Savage. We were so proud to have two of our Beast Machine members Jonny Linton and Jordan Bailey aka Fresh Funk performing a Popping and Hip Hop routine that brought the house down!
Our very own Tony Tran and Sabrina Comanescu served up a dose of diva with their sassy performance that showed why they are so in demand as performers in our city. We were joined on the dance floor every night by the cast of IZM and members of the cast of Tempest Replica as well as by Calgary bboys Grim Reminder! Finishing off the event and setting the visual stage was the photography of Glen Co who is well known in the community for finely capturing all the action on dance floors.
